Kinesiology for Manual Therapies

This innovative text provides an advanced look at kinesiology and functional anatomy. Included are learning-intensive guides that will help students develop palpation skills, support their knowledge base of anatomy, and build a toolbox of techniques that provide a mechanism for specializing treatments. This text is a collective effort to explore the curriculum of kinesiology along with massage techniques, therapeutic exercises, and flexibility for multiple manual therapies. It is approached from a wide perspective of needs in multiple manual therapies, massage therapy and bodywork, athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physical fitness. This book help bridge the gap between basic anatomy and physiology courses. This book is divided into chapters that provide a close anatomical look at each major joint of the body. The organization of the book is two-fold: a chapter on joints and muscles of the anatomy for a particular area is followed by a chapter that teaches specific techniques of massage for that area.

Kinesiology for Manual Therapies has an accompanying Online Learning Center (OLC) for both instructors and students. To help the instructor there are PowerPoints and test bank questions for each chapter; Image bank of all the illustrations in the text to print and use as handouts; and instructor manual with answers to the student text, lesson plans, teaching strategies, and a course outline; and 3 sample syllabi. For the students there are flashcards per chapter of the key terms; PowerPoints and a practice quiz for each chapter; and printable copies of the worksheets from the student text for extra practice.
